Marine Field Trip at Dutungan Island

Hello, my name is Berlian Ainun Widianti. I am from Tour and Travel Business Study Program of Makassar Tourism Polytechnic. On the 10th – 11th October 2019, Tour and Travel Business study program on the third semester held a Marine Field Trip at Dutungan Island. Here, i’m gonna share my Marine Field Trip activities.

Dutungan island is one of the famous island in South Sulawesi Province. Dutungan island is an insland located in Barru Regency and actually Dutungan island is included as an island that is on the border between Barru Regency and Pare-pare Regency. Dutungan island is a small island with beautiful white sand. The exact location of Dutungan Island is in Palanro, Mallusetasi district, Barru regency, South Sulawesi province, Indonesia.

To be able to enjoy the beauty of the white sand from Dutungan Island, you have to travel here. And if you are from Makassar you need approximately 4.5 hours with a distance of about 130 km and when you are from the city of Barru you will need less time more than 1.5 hours, and if you depart from Pare-pare Regency you may need about 30 minutes to reach Tanjung Indah, where Tanjung Indah is dock that will take us to the Dutungan Island.

On the first day, in the morning at 06.00 a.m  we gathered at Makassar Tourism Polytechnic. And then we leaving Campus and headed to Tanjung Indah dock at 07.00 a.m. During the trip, some of my friends guiding and told us about this trip. At 09.45 a.m we finally arrived at Tanjung Indah dock. And then from the dock we cross the sea for about 15 – 20 minutes by a small boat. The day’s activities are diving and snorkeling. Before we dive and snorkel, we are given directions and we are intoduced to diving equipment.

We dive and snorkel alternately.

After diving and snorkeling, we did an observation at Dutungan island. Don’t worry if you want to come here because Dutungan island has so many facilities like a gazebo, toilets, lodging, etc. At Dutungan island they provide diving equipment.

After the activities at Dutungan Island was done, finally we left Dutungan Island and headed to Delima Sari Hotel in Pare-pare Regency. At 17.30 p.m we arrived at Delima Sari Hotel, Pare-pare and did some check-in and prepared for dinner and presentation at the night. At 19.00 p.m we arrive ini the restaurant. We just walked from the Hotel to the restaurant because the restaurant is very close from the Hotel. You just need time about 5 minutes. After dinner, we come back to Hotel and got a presentation about K3 simulation and also how to handle the marine tour. After that we did some entertainment before take a rest.

After all the activities we did at the first day, we come back to our room and take a rest.

On the second day, in the morning at 05.00 a.m we did a morning exercise and went to Habibie & Ainun Monument. We just walked from the hotel to the monument. It tooks time around 20 minutes to get there.

After that, we come back to hotel and prepared to check out and take a breakfast at the Hotel before headed to Paputi beach in Pare-pare regency. At Paputo beach, we did some observation there and relaxing together.

After did an observation and relaxed at the Paputo beach, we headed to Teras Empang Restaurant at Pare-pare regency to have a lunch. At Teras Empang Restaurant, you will see a very great view.

After we get lunch and prayed, we finally come back to Makassar Tourism Polytechnic.

Thank you Makassar Tourism Polytechnic for this marine field trip. This is the best experience i’ve ever had. May the next tour always gonna be fun.
